The compositional language of Juan Carlos Cobián, c. 1920–1923
Abstract
Any study of the compositional language of a musician operating within the realm of urban popular music must necessarily be preceded by a series of methodological clarifications, all stemming from the peculiarities inherent to this cultural field—one that differs fundamentally from the areas traditionally studied by historical musicology or ethnomusicology.
