Abstract

The purpose of this article is to study the textual network used in her works by the Argentinean-Uruguayan composer Graciela Paraskevaídis (1940-2017). From her wide universe of readings, she selects texts by German, Spanish and Latin American poets and writers, as well as fragments of the Bible, popular songs and political speeches. They are resignified in the pieces that include them in different ways, from recitation to traditional singing and contemporary modes of emission, or as titles of instrumental creations. This contribution concludes with reflections on the relationship between text and music in this set of works.

  • Omar Corrado, Miembro de Número de la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes

    Graduado en el Instituto Superior de Música de la Universidad Nacional del Litoral. Doctor en Historia de la Música y Musicología por la Universidad de París IV-Sorbona. Fue becario del Gobierno de Francia, del Instituto Goethe, del Servicio Alemán de Intercambio Académico (DAAD) y de la Fundación Paul Sacher (Basilea). Ha realizado actividades docentes de posgrado como profesor invitado, dictado conferencias y participado en congresos en numerosas universidades e instituciones de Europa, las Américas y Asia. Sus trabajos fueron publicados en revistas especializadas, en diccionarios y enciclopedias internacionales y en actas de congresos. Es autor de los libros Música y modernidad en Buenos Aires 1920-1940 (2010), de Vanguardias al Sur. La música de Juan Carlos Paz (2010, 2ª. 2012), Sonografía de la pampa. Música argentina durante el primer peronismo (1945-1955) (en prensa) y compilador de los volúmenes colectivos Estudios sobre la obra musical de Graciela Paraskevaídis (2014) y Recorridos. Diez estudios sobre música culta argentina de los siglos XX y XXI (2019). Obtuvo el Premio de Musicología de Casa de las Américas (Cuba, 2008) y el Premio Konex (Argentina, 2009 y 2019). Fue Profesor Titular Regular en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras de la Universidad de Buenos Aires (1995-2019).
