Abstract

The music performed by Andean panpipe ensembles is nowadays involved in a wide variety of territorialities. The aim of this paper is to present a particular case of relationship between panpipe music and territoriality that takes place in Susques, province of Jujuy, Argentina. The complex territoriality of this music is engaged by different temporalities, migrations, diasporae, modern technologies and different kinds of nets in which territories are interlinked. Although some of the main currents of social sciences in the last decades would conceptualize all these aspects as deterritorialization processes, we try to show that they could be better explained as aspects of the construction of multiple territorialities, according to the approach of the Brazilian geographer Rogério Haesbaert.
